The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Women's cross country team secured an eighth-place finish at the 2025 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Cross Country Championships. The six-kilometer event was held at the Oakville Indian Mounds course in Danville, Alabama, and was organized by Decatur Morgan County Tourism.
Junior Natalie Williams and sophomore Abigail Pruitt both achieved top-five finishes, leading the women’s cross-country team from the University of the Virgin Islands during the second leg of the 30th anniversary HLSCC Mourant College Classic race series on October 4. The two-mile race was held on the nearby island of Tortola, British Virgin Islands, and is one of five races occurring in the British territory.

Senior Distance Runner Ariana Renault of the University of the Virgin Islands women’s cross country team led the Lady Buccaneers by securing first place in the 2025 Champion Track Club Sunrise 5K held in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, on September 13.

UVI Women’s Cross Country 2025 Season Preview
The women's cross-country team at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is preparing to officially kick off the 2025 season in a familiar setting, participating in the Sunrise 5k on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, scheduled for September 13. The team is predicted to finish in 11th place in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) as announced in the preseason rankings, mirroring their finish from the previous season.
